Changes to the energy performance certificate for small homes

The rules on the energy performance certificate (DPE) have changed for homes of 40 m² or less. Since 1 July 2024, these homes have benefited from a new method of calculating the DPE required for a sale or a letting.

For such a home, a DPE carried out between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2024 may be replaced by a certificate superseding the original rating. The certificate is generated on the website of Ademe's DPE Observatory, under “Moins de 40 m² : Obtenir ma nouvelle étiquette” (under 40 m²: get my new rating). It is valid for the same period as the original DPE.
